Administrators at Lee Academy
Bruce Lindberg, Headmaster
This is Mr. Lindberg’s third year as Headmaster of Lee Academy. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from University of Maine at Farmington, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from University of Maine at Orono. Early in his professional life he taught English, and was Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. In Maine, he has been Principal at Bucksport, Sumner, Mt. Blue, Piscataquis CHS, and Mt. Valley. He served as Principal and Assistant Superintendent in the Aspen school district, in Aspen, Colorado. Mr. Lindberg was also co-owner of the Aspen Basketball Academy, with Gregg Popovich and R.C. Buford. During his career in education, he coached boys’ basketball for 15 years.
Chef Russ Brown, Food Service Director
This is Chef Brown’s second year at Lee Academy. During his 30 year career in culinary arts Russ has coordinated school-based dining programs, both public and private, at both the high school and collegiate level. Prior to his school experiences he was the Head Pastry chef at several fine dining establishments in southern Maine including the Cumberland Club and the Hotel Regency in Portland. Russ graduated Cum Laude from Johnson and Wales University. He enjoys spending his spare time with his children Sam and Abby in a variety of outdoor activities
Ollie Faulkner, Dean of Students
Mr. Faulkner lives in Springfield with wife Lynn, daughter Caitlyn ’10, and Michael and Mathew, ages 5 and 3. This is his third year at Lee Academy, after teaching mathematics for 19 years at schools around the state, as well as coaching several sports. Formerly, he was a Tech Prep liaison for community colleges. He graduated from Maine Central Institute, then the University of Maine, Orono with a B.S. in Education. In addition to being Dean of Students, he is also the secretary to the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Safety Committee at LA, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Group Trust for Insurance, an organization which serves LA and 19 other member institutions.
Chris Gorham, Director of Residential Life
Mr. Gorham is a resident of the Pottle House and Hanover, Maine. This is his second year at LA. His wife Jane owns a salon in Hanover, and the Gorhams share residence with dogs Goldie and Kobie and cats Prince and Timmy. Mr. Gorham graduated from University of Maine, Farmington. He worked in his family’s restaurant business for many years. He loves to go to camp in western Maine, to be with family. He has been involved in the sport of basketball for many years, as player on a state championship team while a student at Rumford High School and, currently, as a board official. He also umpires softball and officiates soccer at the high school level. Mr. Gorham is Director of Residences, here at Lee Academy.
Kendra Ritchie, Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Ritchie lives in Lee, with husband Kevin and daughter Aarika. Son Aaron, daughter-in-law Theresa and grandchildren Matty, Aidan, Elijah and Finnegan also live near. Mrs. Ritchie received a B.A. in English and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Maine in Orono. She is in her 26th year at Lee Academy. She coordinates college and personal counseling, career planning and testing, and is advisor to Peer Counselors and the Civil Rights Team. She is also the pianist for spring musicals and a passionate basketball fan. Mrs. Ritchie also enjoys listening to and playing music, traveling, hiking, and time spent with family. She is a member of the Springfield Congregational Church, UCC.
Kevin Ritchie, Academic Dean
Mr. Ritchie lives on Lookout Mountain in Lee, with wife Kendra and daughter Aarika ’08. Son Aaron ’92 and his family live nearby. Mr. Ritchie graduated with a B.S. in Sociology and a minor in English from University of Maine, Orono. He also received his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine. In his 27 years at Lee Academy he has tutored migrant students, taught 9th grade writing, English, and History and has served as Assistant Headmaster, Development Officer, founder and advisor of Entropy (LA’s literary and art publication), and JV and assistant varsity basketball coach. For 16 years, he was co-owner of the Springfield Fairgrounds, hosting one of the oldest agricultural fairs in Maine. He enjoys basketball, writing, reading, cutting and splitting firewood and spending time on the lakes of eastern Maine.
Jeffrey Wright, Director of Admissions
Mr. Wright lives in Lincoln with his wife Annette ‘92, daughter Callie, and daughter Jillian. He is a member of the Class of ’92 and he has been at LA for 9 years. He earned a B. S. from Husson College, in Business Administration. He enjoys traveling, kayaking, reading and movies. He is also a big-time fan of high school and college sports, as well as of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He is co-advisor to the Civil Rights Team and Peer Counselors and, in past years, he has coached softball and basketball and been a class advisor.
