Bruce Lindberg, Headmaster

This is Mr. Lindberg's fifth year as Headmaster of Lee Academy. HeBruce Lindberg received a Bachelor's Degree in secondary education from the University of Maine at Farmington, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from University of Maine in Orono. He has been a part of Maine high school education for more than three decades, initially as an English teacher, athletic director and assistant principal, then as Principal at Bucksport, Sumner, Mt. Blue, Mt. Valley, and Piscataquis CHS where his school was one of seven in the nation to be recognized by the National Educational Conference on School Improvement. While coaching Maine high school boys' basketball for 15 years, he was honored to be named Maine State Coach of the Year four times. Mr. Lindberg serves as Treasurer of the Maine Association of Independent Schools and is a member of the Maine Principals Association Board of Directors. He was a finalist for Maine Principal of the Year in 2003 and again in 2009. He was also Principal and Assistant Superintendent in the Aspen school district, in Aspen, Colorado in the 1990's. During that time, Mr. Lindberg was co-owner of the Aspen Basketball Academy, with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and General Manager R.C. Buford. In 2009, Mr. Lindberg's efforts helped Lee Academy attain recognition as the Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, and the Maine International Trade Center's International Innovator of the Year. Mr. Lindberg is married to Catherine, an Assistant District Attorney for the State of Maine and they are the parents of four children, Hope, a teacher at Ellsworth High School; David, men's basketball coach and Admissions Counselor at Fisher College in Boston, Massachusetts; Tyler, a recent graduate from the University of Maine's journalism department; and Jordan, a sophomore at Bowdoin College. They have one grandchild, Grace.

Harris "Butch" Arthers, Associate Headmaster

Mr. Arthers brings more than 30 years of experience to Lee Academy.Butch Athers A 1972 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy in nearby Lincoln, Mr. Arthers went on to earn both a BS in education with a concentration in mathematics and a Master's in education administration from the University of Maine in Orono. His first teaching position brought him home to his alma mater, MA, where he also coached wrestling, track, basketball, and football. His next stop was South Berwick, Maine and Marshwood High School where he taught mathematics and coached track, basketball, softball and football. Since 1990, Mr. Arthers has held a variety of roles at Belfast Regional High School in Belfast, Maine, including Athletic Director (7 years), Assistant Principal (11 years), and Principal (8 years). He was also Belfast's head football coach for 16 seasons where he successfully led the team to three state championships in 1996, 1999, and 2003. He and his wife, Angela, make their home in the Pottle House on campus.

Ollie Faulkner, Dean of Students

Ollie Faulkner photoMr. Faulkner lives in Springfield with wife Lynn, daughter Caitlyn ’10, and Michael and Mathew, ages 5 and 3. This is his fifth year at Lee Academy, after teaching mathematics for 19 years at schools around the state, as well as coaching several sports. Formerly, he was a Tech Prep liaison for community colleges. He graduated from Maine Central Institute, then the University of Maine, Orono with a B.S. in Education. In addition to being Dean of Students, he is also the secretary to the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Safety Committee at LA, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Group Trust for Insurance, an organization which serves LA and 19 other member institutions.

Deborah Jacobs, Director of Admissions

Mrs. Jacobs, a long-time employee of Lee Academy, previously servedDeborah Jacobs as the Administrative Assistant to Admissions and Development. In her role as Director of Admissions she oversees recruitment and admissions efforts for LA. Previously she held a variety of positions during her tenure at Lee Academy, including secretary to the guidance department, and the school registrar. Her prior experience includes working as an administrative assistant for an oral surgeon and secretary in the emergency department of Maine Medical Center in Portland. She and her husband, Bob, own and operate Mill Stream Grocery in Springfield, Maine, and Jacobs serves on the Board of Selectman for the town of Lakeville.

Tracey Nevells Nute '79, Guidance Counselor

Mrs. Nute joined Lee Academy in 2009, but her roots at the school runTracey Nute deep and wide. A 1979 graduate of LA, her husband, Kris and two children, Victoria '02 and Rhiannan '05, are also Lee Academy alumni, as well as her brother and both parents. Nute comes to LA from the Indian Township School where she served as that school’s guidance counselor since 2000. She holds a B.A. in French from the University of Maine, where she also earned a Master’s in Education in 1999, and a CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) in Educational Leadership in 2004. She and her husband live on beautiful Silver Lake in Lee.

Bob Potts '85, Director of Advancement

Mr. Potts is a 1985 graduate of Lee Academy and is our Director ofBob Potts Advancement. In his position he oversees all marketing and communications for the Academy, including this website, LA Now magazine, admission recruitment materials, press releases to local media, and more. He is also the Academy's liaison to the Alumni Association, and administers LA's annual fund, raising support for various school programs and inititives. A graduate of the New England School of Communications/Husson College, he spent 15 years working in the broadcast industry as a program director and on-air personality. Prior to joining Lee Academy he spent 9 years at the University of Maine Alumni Association, serving in a variety of roles including Director of Membership/Marketing, Director of Creative Services, and manager of the Phonathon, a program that raised more than $250,000 a year for the University's Annual Fund. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, music, and day trips to the Maine coast with his two children, Jacob and Emily.

Kevin Ritchie, Dean of Academics

Mr. Ritchie lives on Lookout Mountain in Lee, with his wife Kendra. Their Kevin Ritchie daughter, Aarika ’08, attends Colby College in Waterville and son Aaron ’92, and his family, live nearby. Mr. Ritchie graduated with a B.S. in Sociology and a minor in English from University of Maine, Orono. He also received his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine. In his 27 years at Lee Academy he has tutored migrant students, taught 9th grade writing, English, and History and has served as Assistant Headmaster, Development Officer, founder and advisor of Entropy (LA’s literary and art publication), and JV and assistant varsity basketball coach. For 16 years, he was co-owner of the Springfield Fairgrounds, hosting one of the oldest agricultural fairs in Maine. He enjoys basketball, writing, reading, cutting and splitting firewood and spending time on the lakes of eastern Maine.
