PSAT/SAT and ACT test Preparation

Students are acquainted with the format for the PSAT/SAT I and SAT II tests in their junior year. Classroom experiences include discussion of test taking skills and test procedures, “question a day” introduction to the content and question types of the test, as well as timed practice with sample tests.

SAT on-line courses are provided, free of charge, to all juniors.

PSAT/SAT preparation courses are taught as after school offerings for interested students. These structured classes provide extensive practice in the verbal, mathematics and written sections of the tests.

Twice each year, Lee Academy is a test site for both the SAT and the ACT.  We offer the national administration test date for the PSAT, as well.

How do you know which courses to take?

At Lee Academy, a student’s program of study is individualized. Students meet with a member of the guidance department to gain an understanding of various course options. In conjunction with the staff member, the student develops a yearly course of study. Staff members are enthusiastic in encouraging students to enroll in courses that are challenging and interesting.

Each student has personal support at Lee Academy

Opportunities abound for students to make friends, develop trusting relationships and garner the personal support that allows them to more fully realize their potential. Peer counselors, advisors, faculty, and guidance staff know each student. Activities that help to establish relationships begin during orientation days every summer. At Lee Academy, the sense of family means that everyone knows everyone.

Career Guidance—Exploring the Possibilities

Planning for the future means exploring the many paths that lead there. The guidance staff at Lee Academy provides information, mailings, seminars, career planning sessions, arrangements for students to talk with college recruiters and other activities and opportunities which allow students to “explore the possibilities.”  The guidance conference room is a place where seniors often work on college.

College Applications and Financial Aid

Guidance personnel provide an encouraging, informative process by which students explore college possibilities. College visits are encouraged and arranged. Help is available for writing college essays. Workshops are offered, to both senior students and their parents, on filing for financial aid (senior year) and to junior students and their parents on how to establish a college search and career planning process.

Lee Academy Endowment Scholarships to Graduating Seniors

We are very pleased to be able to offer $30-35,000 in scholarships, each year, to our graduating seniors. These monies, payable at the beginning of the student’s second semester of the freshman postsecondary year, represent the interest generated through the investment of donations from alumni and friends of the school. Many memorial scholarships have been established, over the years and continued donation to these scholarships enables Lee Academy graduates who apply to receive financial support for their future education. One of the most pleasant times of the year occurs when the Awards Committee (comprised of the faculty and selected board members) gathers in the spring to decide how to award the scholarships. Giving away money to hard working and aspiring young people is very gratifying and a lot of fun.
