Lee Academy Announces Class of 2010 Honor Parts

Lee, Maine ~Headmaster Bruce Lindberg has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2010.

BEN GUIDO - Son of Mark Guido of Jefferson and Jessica Jacobson Ben Guido of Lee, has been named Valedictorian and will study Pre-Med at Colby College in Waterville. Ben was named an AP Scholar with honors and was named to the 2010 McDonald’s Academic All State Team, as well as being the Phi Beta Kappa Award and Maine Principal’s Award recipient. He was selected for the District V Honors Band Festival for both his junior and senior years and has attained highest honors all four years in high school. Ben has been an active member on both soccer and basketball teams throughout his time at Lee Academy. He was named captain of both during his senior year. He was recognized as a Class C Third Team basketball honoree, as well as a Penobscot Valley Conference Senior All Star. As a Boys State Delegate, National Honor Society member, Class President, Community Service and Student Council member, he has been extremely active in service related activities both on and off campus. He has proudly participated in four spring musicals and serves as the editor for the school newspaper.

CAROL-ANN ALBERT - Daughter of Carroll and Claudette Albert Carol-Ann Albertof Lee, has been named Salutatorian for this year’s class. She will attend Husson University in the fall to study Occupational Therapy. Carol-Ann has been an honor student throughout her four years at Lee Academy and was a Girls State Delegate, National Honor Society and Student Council member. She played soccer all four years and was a member of the 2006 State Championship and 2007 State Runner Up team, as well as the 2006 and 2007 Eastern Maine Championship team. She has worked at the Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union for two years.

KATELYN MALLETT - Daughter of Phillip and Joanne Mallett of Katelyn MallettLee, has been named First Honor Essayist for the Class of 2010. She will be attending the University of Maine Orono to study Nursing in the fall. Katelyn has been an active citizen during her time at Lee Academy. She was a four-year member of both the soccer and basketball teams, including membership on the 2006 and 2008 State Championship basketball team and the 2006 State Championship soccer team. She also played softball for three years and was a member of the 2006 Eastern Maine Championship team. As a National Honor Society and Student Council member, she has been involved in many service-related activities. She was selected as a Girls State Delegate and had her artwork acknowledged by the University of Maine in their traveling art exhibit, and maintained high honors throughout her four years.

REBECCA BURRILL - Daughter of Scott Burrill of Kingman and Becca Burrillgranddaughter of Medella Burrill, also of Kingman, has been named Second Honor Essayist for the Class of 2010. She plans to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky, to study Criminal Justice. Rebecca has received recognition for her academic and attendance efforts while a student at Lee Academy. She was selected to serve as a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council, while also participating on the Math Team as a freshman. Athletically, she was a member of the softball team for three years, receiving the “Best Effort” award as a freshman, and played on 2006 Eastern Maine Championship and State Runner Up teams. Rebecca joined the French Club her sophomore year and traveled to Quebec along with her classmates.

KATHERINE KENNEDY - Daughter of Stephen and Bethany Katie KennedyKennedy of Springfield, has been named Third Honor Essayist for the Class of 2010, and plans to attend Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania, to study Forensic Science in the fall. She has been active in the school’s spring musical all four years and became a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council during her junior year.

Rounding out the honor parts for the Class of 2010 are:

CAITLIN COTE - Daughter of Ollie and Lynn Faulkner of Springfield. She will attend Husson University in the fall, to study Pharmacy. Caitlin has been active in cross-country, basketball, National Honor Society, Student Council and is especially proud of her work as a youth coach within the community.

YURIY ZAROFF - Son of Svetlana Zaroff of Lee, will attend Fitchburg State College as a Communications Media major, with a concentration in film. Yuriy was a successful member of the Math Team, National Honor Society and received highest honors throughout his four years. He also received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award his junior year.

JINHYUK KIM - Son of Tae Cheol and Mi Sun Kim of Seoul, Korea will attend Emory University to study Accounting. Jin has been active in the Community Service Club, Math Team, National Honor Society and Envirothon.

AHNJAE CHUNG - Son of Yeon-Seung Chung and Min-Young Kim of Daejeon, Korea, will be attending the University of Washington to study Bio-engineering. AhnJae is an active member of the cross-country and basketball teams, Community Service Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Math Team and was also selected to be the international speaker at graduation exercises this year.

DYLYN WHIRTY - Son of Jon Whirty and Katrina Whirty, both of Lee, will attend the University of Maine Fort Kent as a Business Administration major. Dylan is a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the alpine ski team, co-captain of the baseball team and was named a Boys State delegate in 2009.

Baccalaureate, Tuesday, June 1st at 6:30 p.m. - Dingley Auditorium

Class Night, Thursday, June 3rd at 6:30 p.m. - Dingley Auditorium

165th Commencement, Saturday, June 5th at 9:30 a.m. - Howard P. Mallett Gymnasium
