Grand Opening Reception held for LA's SisterSchool, Shenzhen American International School

Shenzhen, China ~ OnSunday, July 5th, the Shenzhen American International School held a reception for prospective parents, the media, American companies in Shenzhen, and many others interested in the opening of a truly American school here. SAIS, in a unique affiliation with Lee Academy, of Maine USA is establishing a remarkable opportunity for families and young people by adopting the curriculum of Lee Academy as its academic core. American teachers, trained in American teaching methods will implement the curriculum, and all text books and other curriculum materials come from America and will support the project-based, student-centered philosophy of the best American schools.
The reception, held at the main banquet room of the Kempinski Hotel, was attended by more than 250 people, including the school's founders and staff, and representatives from the Department of Education, which has authorized the move forward for this unique collaboration between eastern and western cultures.
Guests arrived to find SAIS school staff hosting an informational table, and three administrators from Lee Academy greeting all guests. Headmaster Bruce Lindberg, Dean of Students Ollie Faulkner, and Dean of Academics Kevin Ritchie have been in Shenzhen for two weeks, assisting with final preparations for the opening of school on September 1st. Mr. Lindberg and Mr. Ritchie spoke during the presentation, and Mr. Lindberg answered many questions from the audience.
