  • Remote Learning & No Classes on Monday, January 10

    Chris Murphy
    Dear Lee Academy Community,

Given the current number of active covid cases and individuals in quarantine (27 individuals), Lee Academy will not hold in person classes tomorrow, Monday, January 10 and will move to remote learning on Tuesday, January 11. We will continue with remote learning through Friday, January 21. We did not make this decision lightly and understand the importance of in person learning. However, our first priority is the safety of all of our community members. We will reevaluate the community covid numbers over the next two weeks and continue to make decisions that are best for everyone's safety. The faculty and educational staff of Lee Academy will complete a day of professional development (Monday, January 10) to roll out a Google Classroom experience that will be utilized during remote learning.
We are thankful to Mr. Knowles for continually following all operating procedures from the Maine CDC and Maine DOE. Thank you for your support as we move ahead through this pandemic together.

  • Resuming In Person Instruction

    Luke Shorty
    Dear Lee Academy Community Members,
Lee Academy is planning to be back in person starting Tuesday, January 12th, 2021. We will return to school on our "Yellow" hybrid plan, which means that school will occur Monday through Thursday with Friday being a remote day so that we can deep clean the school buildings.
We will continue to monitor the continuing pandemic situation and reserve the right to go back to remote or to fully in-person at a moment's notice.
In order to ensure our ability to safely conduct learning in person, the following procedures shall be  implemented.
    • No student will be allowed on campus if they have been out of the State within the last ten days. To be clear if a student has been out of the State on January 2nd or after, they will not be allowed on campus until after 10 days from their return to the State.
    • Lee Academy will be strictly enforcing our hygiene policies, this includes the necessity of face coverings, strict social distancing, and regular hand washing/sanitizing.
    • If you are having symptoms, have been a close contact, or have any questions regarding COVID-19, please reach out to Aaron Knowles, RN to discuss quarantining by calling  207-794-5707 or by emailing:
In order for us to deliver a quality educational experience it is imperative that these three procedures be strictly followed. Lee Academy will continue, as it has throughout this year, providing an option for remote learning for families and students who choose this method of instruction. If a student or their family wishes to choose remote learning, please contact the school at 207-738-2252 or email Kim Jipson at Questions regarding Athletics can be directed to Lee Academy's Athletics Director, Randy Harris at .
As always, here is some information regarding COVID-19:
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that ranges from mild to severe. It can be more severe in adults 60 years and older and in those with underlying health conditions. The virus mainly spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes and an uninfected person breathes in the virus. Signs and symptoms include:
    · fever / chills
    · new loss of taste / smell
    · cough
    · congestion / runny nose
    · shortness of breath / difficulty breathing
    · nausea / vomiting
    · fatigue
    · diarrhea
    · muscle / body aches
    · sore throat
    · headache
Please keep in mind that many things can cause respiratory illness, so students should be up-to-date on influenza and routine vaccinations.

Maine CDC recommends prevention measures to help control the spread of COVID-19. These measures include:
    · Proper handwashing with soap and warm water, which is especially important after using the bathroom, before / after eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    · When soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
    · Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    · Cover your cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
    · Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
General questions regarding COVID-19 can be answered by calling 1-866-811-5695, you can text your zip code to 898-211, or email at or by calling your primary care provider. More information can be found at www.maine/gov/dhhs/coronavirus or

  • Learning Outside in 2020

Susan S. Linscott, Director of Outdoor and Environmental Programs
Teaching and learning during a global pandemic have brought challenges for us all.  Time spent “plugged in” while learning remotely has reminded us of the importance of finding time to step away from our screens and has emphasized the need to take advantage of the rich learning environment that surrounds us outside in Maine.  When we have been able to hold “live” classes at school, we have looked for new ways to learn outside, away from screens, whenever possible.  Lee Academy has already been committed to getting students outside as part of our student focused, place based curricula, but the challenges of 2020 have accelerated the need to allow students to learn in a more healthy environment.

  • Remaining Remote Until Winter Break

    Luke Shorty
Dear Lee Academy Community members and students,
Due to the increased activity of COVID-19 in the surrounding areas we are currently not confident that we can maintain the consistency of an in-person education at this time.  We will remain remote until the Winter Break, in order to prevent a disruption to the delivery of a quality education to our students in the small amount of time between now and then. We continue to monitor the situation, and we will communicate next steps as they become more clear. For families that are having connectivity issues, we are working on a solution to ensure you have a consistent experience, and we will be in touch with you individually in the near future.

  • The Week after Thanksgiving

    Ruth Lyons
    Hello Lee Academy,

At this time, our plan is to return to in person instruction on December 7th.
