Resuming In Person Instruction

Dear Lee Academy Community Members,

Lee Academy is planning to be back in person starting Tuesday, January 12th, 2021. We will return to school on our "Yellow" hybrid plan, which means that school will occur Monday through Thursday with Friday being a remote day so that we can deep clean the school buildings.

We will continue to monitor the continuing pandemic situation and reserve the right to go back to remote or to fully in-person at a moment's notice.

In order to ensure our ability to safely conduct learning in person, the following procedures shall be  implemented.
  • No student will be allowed on campus if they have been out of the State within the last ten days. To be clear if a student has been out of the State on January 2nd or after, they will not be allowed on campus until after 10 days from their return to the State.
  • Lee Academy will be strictly enforcing our hygiene policies, this includes the necessity of face coverings, strict social distancing, and regular hand washing/sanitizing.
  • If you are having symptoms, have been a close contact, or have any questions regarding COVID-19, please reach out to Aaron Knowles, RN to discuss quarantining by calling  207-794-5707 or by emailing:  aknowles@leeacademy.us.
In order for us to deliver a quality educational experience it is imperative that these three procedures be strictly followed. Lee Academy will continue, as it has throughout this year, providing an option for remote learning for families and students who choose this method of instruction. If a student or their family wishes to choose remote learning, please contact the school at 207-738-2252 or email Kim Jipson at kim.jipson@leeacademy.us. Questions regarding Athletics can be directed to Lee Academy's Athletics Director, Randy Harris at randyharris@leeacademy.us .

As always, here is some information regarding COVID-19:

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that ranges from mild to severe. It can be more severe in adults 60 years and older and in those with underlying health conditions. The virus mainly spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes and an uninfected person breathes in the virus. Signs and symptoms include:
· fever / chills
· new loss of taste / smell
· cough
· congestion / runny nose
· shortness of breath / difficulty breathing
· nausea / vomiting
· fatigue
· diarrhea
· muscle / body aches
· sore throat
· headache
Please keep in mind that many things can cause respiratory illness, so students should be up-to-date on influenza and routine vaccinations.

Maine CDC recommends prevention measures to help control the spread of COVID-19. These measures include:
· Proper handwashing with soap and warm water, which is especially important after using the bathroom, before / after eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
· When soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
· Cover your cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
· Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
