Letter to senior parents

Dear Members of the Lee Academy Community,
This year, which began with uncertainty, is ending with hope, solid plans for growth, and genuine financial and
programmatic stability; the future of Lee Academy is bright! Our students and staF thank YOU, our far-flung
“community members” and alums for your commitment to this relationship-focused “school in the woods”.
And, we are closing out a successful academic year – our seniors persevered and are ready for the world
beyond LA, our once-nervous 9th graders are now “seasoned veterans” of LA, our sophomores have gained
valuable perspective during their second year here, and our juniors are prepared to take the senior limelight
as role models and preparers of their futures. We have posted the schedule for senior activities on our
website and Facebook page and, below, we post essential dates and events for all, for the final few weeks:
Important Upcoming Dates
1. May 18th – Prom, in Upper Gym, 7:00pm – 10:00pm
2. May 22nd and 23rd – Region III Senior Recognition Nights (in Lincoln, at RIII), 6:00pm
3. May 23rd – Region III Step-Up Day for students considering a Region III program (in Lincoln, at RIII)
4. May 24th – Senior Last Day of classes and Senior “goodbye” to underclass students at LA
5. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (May 26th, 27th, 28th) – Senior class trip to Hampton Beach, NH, for those
seniors who have previously committed to attend
6. May 27th – Memorial Day (no school)
7. May 29th – Marching practice from 8:30 to 10:30am (all seniors attend)
8. May 30th – Marching practice from 8:30 to 10:30am (all seniors attend)
9. May 30th – Senior Class Night in Howard Mallett Gymnasium, 6:30pm
10. Sunday, June 2nd at 3:00pm – Commencement to celebrate Graduation for the Class of 2024
(ample seating, but be early if you need handicap or elderly seating or parking)
11. June 7th – Underclass students’ last day of regular classes; this is a regular Friday – busses leave
LA at 12:45am. Also, grades close for all students, unless prior arrangements have been made
because of extenuating circumstances.
12. June 10th and 11th – J-Term Activities, TBA – all underclass students
13. June 12th – Underclass Assembly - last student day. This is an “early release” day – assembly is at
10:40am in Dingley Auditorium, lunch at 11:20, busses at 11:45am
14. June 13th – Teacher Workshop Day
15. +June 14th – As the ‘60s pop group the Beach Boys would say, “Endless Summer” begins – a time to
recharge and enjoy -- and then, later, to plan for a great 2024-2025 school year!
