Lee Academy is a local town academy that was founded in 1845. Located in rural Lee, Maine within an hour of world renowned mountain hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventure. Lee Academy's curriculum is dedicated to educating the whole human through Understanding by Design and Place-Based education.   • High School Foreign Language Teacher

    High School Foreign Language: grades 9-12
    Lee Academy has a need for a high school teacher to teach French (I and II) and/or Spanish (I and II) courses.  Applicants should have a knowledge of Common Core standards, Place-Based education, and Understanding by Design.  The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic, and student focused.  This position requires work in an environment composed of both domestic and international students representing many cultures, languages and prior experiences.  Preference given to teachers who have high school teaching experience in World Languages or holding a current teaching certificate.
    Finalist should be certified or can obtain the needed certification, and must pass the State of Maine background check.  Lee Academy offers competitive salary and benefits.

    Educational Technician
    The Educational Technician will report to the Head of School.
    Job Overview: This position supports teachers and student learning in and out of the classroom through implementing a variety of techniques. This position could involve being assigned one on one to a student or providing services to a cohort of students in compliance with their individual education plans. 
    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Work with individual students or small groups of students to review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the classroom teacher/content specialist under the supervision of the classroom teacher/content specialist. 
    • Review of all Individualized Education Plans (IEP's), 504 Plans, and Personal Learning Plans, (PLP's), to have a basic understanding of accommodations and modifications, as required. 
    • Assist the teacher/content specialist in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based upon the understanding of the students' individualized educational plans, (IEP's), 504 plans, Personal Learning Plans (PLP's), needs, interests and abilities. 
    • Work with a learner centered philosophy and act as a team player with educators and content specialists.
    • Exhibits a professional, positive attitude that adds to our culture of community and student support and accountability.
    • Possesses working knowledge of disabilities and special education methods.  
    • Provides individual and group services in a variety of settings and models.
    • Establishes an effective rapport/relationship with children, parents, and staff.  
    • Effectively communicates both orally and in writing with a wide variety of people.  
    • Works collaboratively as a member of an IEP, 504, PLP or other student centered team.  
    • Maintains composure in stressful situations.  
    • Motivates students to succeed and engage in learning.
    Qualifications:

    Ed Tech I: requires that you have your high school diploma or GED.
    Ed Tech II: : requires that you have 60 semester hours of approved study.

    Ed Tech III: requires that you have 90 semester hours of approved study.
